The National Day of Unity is celebrated to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birthday, who truly unified the country. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 to be celebrated every year on 31st October.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 to be celebrated every year on 31st October.The purpose of introducing this day is to pay tribute to the iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, for his extraordinary work for the country. He worked hard to keep India united.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated Sardar Patel’s statue on this day in 2014 by paying floral tributes to and flagging off a program in New Delhi known as’ Run For Unity’. It was planned to highlight Sardar Patel’s efforts to unite the country. On this day, a nationwide marathon is organized to increase awareness about this day and also to remember the great personality.
