A globe is a three- dimensional,spherical,scale model of Earth or other celestial body such as a planet or moon.Unlike maps,there are no gaps on the globe.A globe is the only representatoin of the Earth that does not distort either the shape or the size of larg features-land masses,bodies of water,etc.The sphericity of the Earth was established by Greek astronomy in the third centure BC.The earliest glob was made in 1492(fourteen ninety two) by Martin Behaim(1459-1537).Behaim was a German mapmarker ,navigator and merchart.Traditionally,globes were manufacted by gluing a printed paper map onto a spere ,often made from wood.Modern globes are often made from termoplastic.A globe is usually mounted at a 23,5° angle on a maridian.
