Я думаю, что автор хотел сказать читателю, что любая жизнь не должна быть растрачена попусту. Как бы не была красива роза, но сама для себя она существовать не могла, это было пустое существование, которое не приносило никакой пользы, а порождало только зависть и злобу. Когда же розу сорвали и отдали умирающему мальчику, роза поняла, что ее жизнь прожита не зря, что она все-таки успела кому-то оказаться нужной и полезной, пусть на краткий миг, но сделала жизнь мальчика счастливей. Жаба выступает в этой сказке второстепенным персонажем, злобной силой, которой чуждо все красивое, но без нее и роза бы не поняла, для чего она живет на свете. Так и любая человеческая жизнь не должна быть растрачена попусту, на одного себя, она обязательно должна приносить пользу и другим людям.
