Roger and Betsy are the Tennis Couple
Roger and Betsy are members of the Newton tennis club and every year they take part in the tournament. The Newton tournament is held every year, and the competitors come from every part of the country to participate. The club has eight hard courts and six green courts. During the season they are always crowded with players.
This year Roger and Betsy entered for the mixed doubles competition. They were surprised when they reached the doubles final. After the match they understood why they had won. They are practicing together for three months and the practice made their play different. The couple they had defeated in the semifinal had played together only three times before.
On the last day of the tournament Roger and Betsy were declared winners of the competition. Their opponents had started well, but after a long struggle Roger and Betsy were able to defeat the other pair.
Half an hour after the match was over and after the participants had bathed and changed their clothes, Mr. Kelly, the President of the club, presented the prizes. The winners of the singles and doubles events received silver cups and, in addition, each winner got a new tennis racket.
